Saptkaya Yoga School

Our Philosophy

At Saptkaya Yoga School, we believe that when your body, mind, and spirit are aligned, that’s when true transformation begins. Our philosophy comes from the ancient science of Ayurveda and is deeply rooted in the rich yogic traditions of India. But as the norm of change dictates, we must incorporate the ever-changing modern circumstances when applying any tradition in the present. With that in mind, our school offers a space where ancient wisdom meets modern consciousness.

The name Saptkaya means “Seven Bodies” in Sanskrit—representing the physical, energetic, mental, intellectual, spiritual, cosmic, and divine layers of the self. In every retreat, treatment, or yoga training, we focus on all seven bodies, offering complete transformation and bringing balance and clarity across these seven dimensions.

Our Location

We are nestled in the serene foothills of Tapovan, Rishikesh, surrounded by the Himalayan mountains, sacred rivers, and natural waterfall streams. Just far enough from the town center to offer a peaceful space away from city distractions, and yet not too far that it is impossible or difficult to commute or experience the hustle and bustle of Rishikesh’s life at temples and ghats.

Rishikesh, being the Yoga Capital of the World, hosts the most happening kirtans, the most serene evening and morning prayers, and many more spiritual activities. Being in this city is a spiritual transformation journey.

Thus, we boast the perfect setting, which will be instrumental in deepening your practice and reconnecting with yourself.

Our Teaching Approach

Going beyond physical postures, our teaching techniques focus on incorporating and introducing philosophies of yoga in everyday life.

At Saptkaya, every course or retreat includes:

Ayurveda and sattvic living and food
Yogic rituals (fire ceremony, Ganga Aarti, kirtans)
Yoga philosophy sessions (from texts like the Bhagavad Gita & Yoga Sutras)
Asana (postures)
Pranayama (breathwork)
Dhyana (meditation)

To make sure you get true transformation and not just a checklist of things and asanas, we keep our batch sizes small and focus on personalized attention. Whether you’re here for a teacher training or a healing retreat, you’ll experience deep internal growth and transformation.

The Yogic Lifestyle as Described in Ancient Texts

The yogic lifestyle described in ancient texts incorporates changes in your day-to-day routine, and we follow all of these

Switch from tamasic (fried and unhealthy) food to sattvic plant-based food & Ayurvedic meals.
Move away from talking all day and being busy with loud noises by observing periods of silence.
Shift from doing everything for ourselves to incorporating karma yoga (community service).
Last but not least, transformation of a full mind to living with mindfulness & intention.
